Sue Thomas on DVD PDF Print E-mail

Television fans are a breed apart: once we love a series, we want to get all that we can about it which is why tv series boxset are such a great gift idea. Usually, those boxset will come out a few months after the end of a season, and so on so forth. In fact, one of the most frequently asked question I get is: Where can I find the show on DVD? Is it out yet? (okay, technically that's two questions). Invariably, my answer has been that Amazon Japan has the first season available in a boxset but that's basically the extent of it. BUT...

This answer has changed because Sue Thomas was finally "limited-released" on DVD earlier this week. While this is a sure improvement over not having any kind of DVD at all, the new DVDs only have 11 of the 19 episodes of the first season and are meant as a testing ground of sort to gauge the interest of release the rest of the series on DVD. So basically, if there aren't enough sales generated, 11 episodes of season 1 is all we'll get.

This means every fan out there should consider buying the series to make sure we get the rest as well. At $19.99, the price is reasonable enough to warrant the buy. And what a nice gift as Christmas is just around the corner? ;)

STFBE on DVD

UPDATE

As of the beginning of May, the rest of the series will be released on DVD to fans in North America. The DVD will be in widescreen format (16:9) and closed captioned. Fans who've already bought the first release mentioned above (or those who buy it before May 1st) will get a limited time discount on the price of the complete series (boxed set 2 through 5).

I think if the demand is there, it's quite possible they'll distribute it at large seeing as the show aired in many countries.

This site is reliable. But in the end it has to come down to whether or not you feel you can rely on the site...

What do you mean "jipped," Abbey? Has anyone else ordered from TVdvdMania & had issues? Is this, for sure, a counterfeit site??? I want the box set!!!

The dvds are great. The picture and sound quality are very nice, and I have enjoyed getting to see them in widescreen as they were intended. The special features were nice, too, including an interview with the series creator and a nice speech by Deanne Bray about getting the chance to play Sue. I really hope they release more on dvd SOON. :)

Is it possible to buy the Japanese DVD set in Canada? Is it any better than the one that's just come out in the US and Canada?

Really like your site btw

Hi Mattea, the Japanese DVD set is only available on Amazon.co.jp or you may be able to find it on eBay. But the one thing you should keep in mind is that those DVD are Region 2 DVD whereas we in Canada are Region 1. There's also a possiblity that Japan uses the PAL system where we use NTSC... If that's the case, you could only watch those from a computer and they are rather expensive and not any better than what was released since the first season was released in Japan as 2 different boxset.

Hope this answers your question and helps you make your decision.

I would hesitate to buy DVDs in Japan. Their DVD players are not compatible with DVDs here in America or so I have heard. You may want to do more research.

My husband & I just started watching Sue Thomas FBI series and we love it. My husband happen to notice that it was on the Gospel Music Channel and American Life Channel so we thought we would Tivo it to see if we like it. Now we can't wait till the last episode to see if Jack and Sue get together. We have e-mailed our friends and family to tell them about this wonderful series since we were finding that alot of people had never heard of it. We highly recommend it to anyone that loves watching a good clean christian series. It is sad that all tv series isn't like Sue Thomas FB Eye.

Both Sue Thomas F.B.Eye and Doc (another series by the same creators) were really clean entertainment that not only could be enjoyed by the whole family but also instilled a few morals in a TV programming schedule that is otherwise sadly lacking.

You can realize the impact this series had on people because 5 years later, we're still holding on - waiting for SOMETHING to happen. Thanks you for spreading the word on that excellent show to your friends and family!

You cannot get the DVD in store Joshua, only online or by calling the toll-free number 1-800-682-8748. This only works if you're in Canada or the US as the series is only available to North America at the moment.

I came across a site that is selling all three seasons (57 shows, 15 DVDs). Your site makes it sound like only season one is available. Is that correct?

There is a counterfit DVD ring that sells the complete set already. DO NOT BUY FROM THEM! We almost made the same mistake. I would suggest making SURE that the source you use is selling the OFFICIAL product. The counterfit guys tape the shows off of the TV and burn the discs with their computers. These items ship from China even though the website will not tell you that. One person/group operates under several alias business names - DVD home store, planet DVD, tvdvd.com, and probably others too. Fake, fake, fake! And illegal as well.

Are you taking pre-orders for Season 2 & 3? I ordered Season 1 from American Family Assoc. because they had emailed me about it. I did not know about your site. May I still get the discount on the next 2 seasons?

I called 1-800-682-8748 to order the complete set for 99.95 as shown on the suethomasdvd.com web site, but I was unable to. The person demanded that I first supply my CC info for the first volume, then she would check and see what else was available. She kept saying that they had to follow some procedure laid out in an infomercial that I had never seen. Anyway, I felt so uneasy after talking to this strange person that I did not want to give them my CC number. Is there any other way to get these DVDs?

I'm with captain comet. I really want this set but I don't like giving my cc out over the phone. I also wish someone else would release it because 100.00 US is a lot of money but I'd pay if that's the only way to get it.

I love the series which is being shown on alabi in the UK at the moment. Hope they make the DVD's available in the UK shortly. My player will play region 1 but I can't find anywhere that will ship to the UK, other then the counterfit guys! I don't agree with the sale of counterfit DVD's but can you really blame people for risking buying them when it takes so long for stuff to be released in region 2!
